Introduction to Electronics for non-technical staff - one-day course

This six-hour course is an excellent way to introduce new and non-technical staff, such as accounts, sales, administration, stores procurement and purchasing staff, to the ‘mysteries’ of electronics.

In this one-day course we describe many of the most common components and what they do. Starting with the printed board, or PCB, we demonstrate what certain components do and why they need to go where they do; how to recognise different components and the industry jargon that goes with them. At the end of the day everyone gets the chance to build a working device to take away with them.

The beauty of this course is that we can adapt it to suit your staff’s needs and their role in your business.

• Introduction to transistors and chips
• Are components all the same size?
• ESD procedures and 'zaps'
• Can the bits be put anywhere on the board?
• Why is solder important?
• Do standards matter?
• Jargon and more component ID
• Is electronics used in lots of things?
• Do things work first time?
• Tools and equipment skills
• Why do we build the gizmo in a certain way?
• Opportunity to build a working project

Attendance on this course will result in an Electronics Yorkshire certificate being awarded to candidates.

Course fee per student (1 day):            £200+VAT
